Best and Worst Dressed at the 2022 Met Gala

What can be said about the red carpet fashion at the Met Gala that hasn’t already been said? While some celebrities embraced the theme of Camp in their fashion choices, others failed to live up to the Met Gala Standard. The Met Gala truly goes above and beyond any other award show, so let’s take a look at the best and worst dressed celebs at this year’s event. These are my opinions and should not be seen as an official Met Gala judgment!

Frida Gustavsson

I love how Frida Gustavsson recreated a classic look. The bright green dress is eye-catching but still sophisticated. Her pink lipstick also brings out her features, especially her eyes. This would definitely be one of my top picks for best dressed!

Jamie Chung

Chung was by far one of my favorite looks from last night’s Met Gala. Her dress was elaborate but elegant, a really unique take on a traditional theme. The bright colors fit with her personality, too; she always seems so fun and bubbly! This look is totally appropriate for someone who wants to stand out but still make sure everyone knows it’s not about them.

Lady Gaga

Before you dismiss Lady Gaga as an over-the-top weirdo, hear us out. Sure, she might not be your style icon but she is consistently daring in both her fashion choices (we mean, how many people could successfully pull off that egg thing?) and her music. She just released a record about mental health in which she opens up about her struggles with anxiety—and we love it!

Kendall Jenner

In terms of worst dressed, you can’t do much worse than Kendall Jenner’s parade of red carpet outfits. Not only is her style distinctively un-Kendall, but it also doesn’t fit with any sort of met gala theme.

Miley Cyrus

What’s best about Miley Cyrus? Her sense of style! After all, she was a fashion designer before she was a pop star. While her ongoing transition from Disney star to music sensation has been met with criticism, there’s no denying that her penchant for pushing fashion boundaries has always been on-point. At last year’s Met Gala, she appeared in an outlandish outfit that featured tattered patches of white lace.

Selena Gomez

As an attendee of all 7 Met Galas so far, Selena has a unique perspective on what makes a good Met look. After studying her best looks, I think she will end up with one of two ensembles: Either a sleek black dress that reveals just enough cleavage to attract attention without being over-the-top or a long gold gown that shows off her arms. She’ll wear her hair in loose waves with a few subtle curls, and opt for minimal makeup. Her accessories are sure to be simple—perhaps some bold earrings or diamond studs—and she’ll carry a small clutch bag in either red or black.

Taylor Swift

Wearing a conversion therapy outfit created by Dolce & Gabbana, Swift stepped out onto the Met Gala Red Carpet with a new pixie cut. As she walked up to the photographers, she smiled and raised her hand in affirmation. The message was loud and clear – converting from gay to straight is impossible, so why even try? 

However, others were not as pleased with Taylor’s outfit choice for Met Gala 2022; many said that it promoted hatred of those who identify as gay or bisexual. I don’t think you should be able to change your sexuality if you want to live life freely, one said when asked about his thoughts on Taylor’s suit.
